Big Sky is the largest ski resort in the United States — nearly six thousand acres — and the tram hauls you to the 11,166-ft summit of Lone Peak, a rock fin standing alone above everything. Three states from the top on a clear day, and the Yellowstone plateau laid out to the south. The runs off this summit are the serious kind; in summer it is simply the best view in Montana that you can reach without walking.
